UOK .............

Beauty of UOKUniversity of Kelaniya – My University

About University of Kelaniya

The University of Kelaniya has its origin in the historic Vidyalankara Pirivena, founded in 1875 by Ratmalane Sri Dharmaloka Thera as a centre of learning for Buddhist monks.
With the establishment of modern universities in Sri Lanka in the 1940s and 1950s, the Vidyalankara Pirivena became the Vidyalankara University in 1959, later the Vidyalankara Campus of the University of Ceylon in 1972, and, ultimately, the University of Kelaniya in 1978.
The University of Kelaniya has pioneered a number of new developments in higher education. It was one of the first universities to begin teaching science in Sinhala and the first to restructure the traditional Arts Faculty into three faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, and Commerce and Management.

It has several departments not generally found in the Sri Lankan University system and some Kelaniya innovations have been adopted subsequently by other universities. These include the Departments of Industrial Management and Microbiology in the Faculty of Science; Departments of Linguistics, Fine Arts, Modern Languages and Hindi in the Faculty of Humanities; and Mass Communication and Library and Information Sciences in the Faculty of Social Sciences

It is like a miracle to enter this wonderful place. After facing a tough series of exams and passing them, I could embrace the sweet smell of my university. Placed in Dalugama, Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Opening the doors to the knowledge coming from all around the world as it is situated near by the economic capital, Colombo though not full of the disturbances as situated in the city.

At the first look of the giant name board placed in front of the university premises, a viewer feels the strength and the proud history of the university. And that is a famous landmark for most of travelers passing by.

My Dream Trip

MY TRIP TO SWITZERLAND  (A COMPLETE SWITZERLAND  ITINERARY)

It is looks like a topic given to a primary school boy to write on. But the  essence of the activity is not such primary or a kid’s understanding. Even I felt it as something hilarious when I heard the lecturer’s voice saying “Take a piece of paper and write how you plan your dream trip. Imagine you have performed well at your office and your boss is happy to allow you going on a trip with unlimited budget for only one month. And you are married and having two kids “So I began dreaming and writ it on a paper.

My Dream Trip

Pontresina is a mountain village flanked by the Bernina massif, in eastern Switzerland. It’s known for its Belle Epoque hotels and traditional Engadine stone houses with decorated facades. The Burial Church of Santa Maria has medieval wall paintings. The Museum Alpin’s hunting gear, minerals and photos trace the culture and geology of the Alps. To the southwest, the Roseg Valley has trails, forests and deer.

Lucerne

In the heart of Switzerland lies the lakeside city of Lucerne, another postcard-perfect town nestled among a mountainous panorama. Fortified towers, wooden bridges and timeworn churches festooned with antique frescoes have allowed the city to keep its traditional townscape, adding to the charm of this top place in Switzerland. Take pleasure in the thrilling views of the city proper and Lake Lucerne by riding up to the peak of neighbouring Mt Pilatus, Mt Rigi or the Stanserhorn

Zurich

As the cultural hub of Switzerland, Zurich is not one to cross of your list of top Swiss places to see. Unbeknown to many, behind Zurich's metropolis, financial facade exists a pulsating nightlife with a contemporary edge. After all, Zurich hosts the Street Parade, one of Europe's biggest annual rave parties.
While the city has kept some of its historical roots – evident in the emblematic guild houses, Grossmünster church, Swiss National Museum and Lindenhof square – regeneration is supreme in wealthy Zurich. Old heritage sites and factories have been repurposed and now serve as cultural spaces, joining more than 50 museums and 100 art galleries to see in Zurich. Known as one of the world's most livable cities, Zurich offers everything you'd want for an urban escape, yet also the chance to reach rural, idyllic towns just a stone's throw away. Read about the prettiest Swiss towns within two hours of Zurich

 End of the dream-----------

So, was it what expected by the lecturer. No. I realized that after she explained it later. Yeah, we were given a vacation and an unlimited budget. So, does that mean everything is fine and we have only to g on the trip… The bad assumption I and most of my peers made. I had to plan so many things before going on. How to hand over my works and settle my wife’s job and kids school… A lot to take care of. It gives the sense of planning to the maximum before taking any action. Even when you are going to entertain something. It remembers us, we are not free people. We are burdened with so many. They can be relationships, duties and responsibilities. So think of every side, when you are with something.

so one of our team member (that is Charith) came in front of the whole class, and present that. we are making a kit and it will make with sensor which will support you in swimming and when you are playing football the air resistance will not Effect you ..so that's our product.

We tight the pen by thread in the middle and then by head side and finally by nib and all the team member do it very cleverly. In the beginning we would like to try but madam was not agree to us and told straight away to the job.
then we start the writing without practice and finally we complete the task five minutes before the other group.

Team Building Game The Barter Puzzle

figure 7

In order to bring out the teachable moment from this puzzle, the leader or facilitator can ask the team, at
the completion of this project, “does this puzzle remind you of any other situations, and if so, tell us about
them?” Or, “what other projects do you have limited resources with which to complete the task?” By exploring this line of discussion at the completion of the puzzle, participants are given the opportunity to transfer the skills
learned from the activity back to their respective situations. This approach sometimes helps a teammember

solve not only the puzzle of the day, but potentially some additional challenges they are facing as well. One of
the most important questions you can ask is, “what skills did you learn from this experience that can help you
solve additional problems in the future?”

Experience is a hard teacher. It gives the test first, and then the lesson.    ( Vernon Sanders Law)

Yet there will stretch out before  you an  ever lengthening, ever    ascending, ever improving path. you know you will ever  get to the   end of journey but this so far from discouraging, only adds to the     joy and glory .

What are the Benefits of PPD ?

figure 5

  • Your mind is always ready to “fight the forces of evil” – This is a term I learned from my mentor/marketing community. It is pretty funny but, in life many things seem to “get in our way” and I put that in quotes because honestly; ultimately the only thing in our way is ourselves. However, with continuous personal development you will fight through obstacles and make everything that you desire easily possible.

    • You can spread it to the world  When are continuously benefiting from personal development  you can mentor anyone. You share the knowledge and in turn will become a better communicator, mentor, speaker, trainer etc. People will flock with you anywhere because people love people who can inspire them.
    • Confidence –  Remember when I told you I felt like I could dominate the world? Haha.  When you have a goal you will KNOW you can achieve it. Even you do not achieve it trying your best gets you moving forward more quickly than most.

What will We  get from PPD ?
